This game is essentially an adaption of the anime and features familiar dialogue, scenes and is very stylistically portrayed like Tsubasa Chronicle - except in much clearer and crisper quality. In game, play as all of the main characters (except perhaps Mokona) and travel to the different countries and worlds that are seen in the series. With that said, the premise of the game is the same, in that you are on a quest to find Sakura's scattered memories on a journey through space and time. You definitely won't get stuck in the same place for too long, as there are not only different worlds to visit, but also special and unique places in each world available for you to explore. As this game's platform is the Nintendo DS, the game utilizes the dual screen, for which the DS is so cleverly named. The top screen - the non-touch screen - is used for conversation and other story-telling aspects of the game. The dialogue is very near that of the anime, so you really feel like you're role-playing as your character. There are also screens taken directly from the anime. The bottom screen of the game - the touch-screen - is used for selecting different locations, for selecting cards in the battle system, and will also conveniently display a map of the region you're in. Now, what exactly do you do in the game? Keep reading to find out! Gameplay
A unique feature of this game not seen in the anime or series is its "card-based" battle system. Essentially, you use different cards marked as "rock", "paper", or "scissor", and depending on what your opponent chooses for his card, you either lessen his hit points, retain hit points, or lose some of your own. There are also special cards that randomly come into play that allow you to use techniques, such healing or dealing powerful blows! Each card has different skill levels and HP reductions, so you can play toward your character's strengths. Winning battles earns you experience points that you can freely distribute into these specific areas, based on your preference. Traveling in the game is always alongside your companions. For example, if you go to the marketplace in Clow Country, you'll encounter the scene where Sakura is given an apple by a townsperson (but you'll have to battle for it!) Probably the biggest distinction in the game is the card battle system, that seems to happen very often whether it's to settle a dispute, for leisure, or to take down a bad guy. You'll want to go in the sequence of the anime's storyline to get anywhere. For instance, in Clow you'll start off at Syaoran's house, head over over to the marketplace, then to the cliffs, the castle, and then finally the Clow Ruins. Comprende? :] The game also features competitive wireless play, so if you should be so lucky as to have friends who also have this game (unlike myself), you can play along with them! Shannon's Review
Want to know what's more fun than this game? Watching paint dry. This game has a lot of dialogue. I found myself just sitting there reading (though not much, mind you... kanji = death) and looking at pictures, with the occasional card battle that really isn't all that entertaining after a while - in fact, it's probably more annoying than the dialogue. I loved this game because of the beautiful graphics... but the gameplay? Not so much. Remember when I said this game follows the storyline of the anime? I wasn't kidding. I've seen the anime, so it's not like I need to sit through it again, am I right?? Buy this game if you're a die-hard Tsubasa fan! Keep your money if you'd rather buy more entertaining and worthwhile merchandise; it won't be that hard to find. (Ouch!)And how far does this game go, you ask? I'm willing to assume it covers the entire first season of Tsubasa Chronicle, but I honestly never got much past Hansin... Sorry guys! I endured as much as I could! At least I have the screenshots to prove I at least got this far. :P Enjoy! How to Buy
This game is available at Play-Asia.com, YesAsia, and of course, on eBay. This game is currently Japan-exclusive, and probably has a 99.9% chance of staying that way. Sorry folks!
